Tuk to the Road
Welcome to Tuk to the Road, the biggest thing on 3 wheels in 2006, in fact, of all time. The aim of the mission is to drive a Thai tuk tuk from Bangkok to Brighton overland, and raise £50,000 for the mental health charity Mind. Many have called us crazy, but with your help we will not only succeed, but in doing so will raise both funds and awareness for a great cause.
Please have a wallow in our site; find out who we are, why we are taking on such a challenge and how you can Support Us.
Every pound and penny we raise goes directly to Mind, so your donations are what will make this mission worthwhile. Our online donations are handled by Just Giving and are totally secure.
Thanks for your support - we really appreciate it. Without you it couldn't happen..
News
If you are new to this site then the first thing you should know is that we made it from Bangkok to Brighton, landing on September 3rd 2006 after 98 days on the road and 12, 500 miles covered. Since then there have been quite a few developments, namely a book. A documentary is also in the pipeline.

The book officially launches on August 30, but we’ve already had a flurry of emails from people in Slovakia, Russia, Somerset, Norfolk and various other locations who have already got copies from Waterstones, Amazon etc.
Behind the scenes those clever people at our publishers www.thefridayproject.co.uk and www.happypr.co.uk have been working hard to spread the tukking word. We’re in this month’s Cosmopolitan magazine as ‘Book of the Month’, made an appearance on Richard & Judy a few weeks ago, have graced the airwaves of Radio4’s Excess Baggage and been featured in a number of papers and magazines.
To celebrate all this we’re having a spate of nationwide launch parties – well, Norfolk and London to be precise. Please feel free to join us at either event for a drink and a peek at Ting Tong. Details are as follows.
NORFOLK LAUNCH PARTY

“What a brave and marvellous adventure! And in such a cause! Please
support Antonia and Jo and send them on their way in their tuk tuk with
your cheers ringing in their (notably pretty) ears.”
Stephen Fry; writer, broadcaster and all round genius.
“What a refreshingly original idea, Antonia and Jo. I love the fact that
you'll be looking at mental health services in the countries you'll be
visiting. They often have a far more holistic approach to dealing with
mental health, incorporating not only the Mind, but the Body and Soul
too. Good luck! I look forward to your documentary!”.
Trisha Goddard - Journalist, Television presenter and producer
“What a wonderful idea….Mental
illnesses are painful and often hidden diseases which afflict millions
of people - from depression to schizophrenia. Thank goodness that there
are those who want to help and thereby transform the lives of so many
suffering in silence and hiding.”
Melvyn
Bragg, President of Mind
