“What a wonderful idea….Mental illnesses are painful and often hidden diseases which afflict millions of people - from depression to schizophrenia. Thank goodness that there are those who want to help and thereby transform the lives of so many suffering in silence and hiding.” Melvyn Bragg, President of Mind
“What a brave and marvellous adventure! And in such a cause! Please support Antonia and Jo and send them on their way in their tuk tuk with your cheers ringing in their (notably pretty) ears.” Stephen Fry; writer, broadcaster and all round genius.
"I just wanted to say a huge well done to you both on completing your survival course this weekend, your determination and passion to succeed is infectious. I am very proud of you both, and glad that Intrepid Expeditions could play a small part of your great adventure. I wish you both the very best of luck". Nigel Startin. Director, Intrepid Expeditions. March 18th, 2006.
“What a refreshingly original idea, Antonia and Jo. I love the fact that you'll be looking at mental health services in the countries you'll be visiting. They often have a far more holistic approach to dealing with mental health, incorporating not only the Mind, but the Body and Soul too. Good luck! I look forward to your documentary!”. TRISHA GODDARD - Journalist, Television presenter and producer, Norwich.
It takes great courage and resilience to survive mental illness. Such Talents will no doubt serve Jo and Antonia well on their epic journey. Mental illness blights and takes so many lives. It is not just those who suffer illness but also anyone connected to them; all are affected. Such conditions respect no one. Mind has supported me through sixteen years of mental illness and provides vital support to many. But this trip is not just about raising money for a crucial cause. It is also about breaking down the stigma that makes mental illness so hard to live with. Please support Jo and Antonia in any way you can on their journey, it will undoubtedly save lives in the future. Mark Edgar; Mental Health worker, trainer, writer and survivor.
